Final Project Proposal Guidelines

This course engages with critical cultural studies theory with an emphasis on the material and political effects and conditions of the post-colonial, globlaized present. As we move through the semester we will engage with various theorectical imperatives around the social life of information, technology and social movements, intellectual property rights and the public domain, globalization and consumption, and indigenous rights and representation in the nation-state.
Using this theoretical and practical literature your project proposal should explore a larger project that engages with the themes of the class. Your project should ideally relate to research in which you are already in engaged, but should not rehearse that project from your initial vantage point. Instead, you must use the themes and theories of this class to expand your research questions and explore new avenues for further research. The final project proposal should be a 7-10 page discussion of a larger project that engages with the themes of the class.

You will present your beginning ideas and initial research questions on the blog by February 8th. You will present the proposal to the class on April 16 or April 23rd using PPT or Keynote. Your written proposals will be due Friday May 3rd at noon.
